I’m an entrepreneur and advisor in Boulder, Colorado.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve learned by doing. My parents told me I could do anything if I was willing to put in the work, and I believed them. Entrepreneurship came naturally as a result. I love jumping into something, putting in the work, and learning what it takes to be great.

I started my first real company, Help Scout, in 2011 alongside Jared and Denny. We were accepted into Techstars, moved from Nashville to Boston, and what happened next went far beyond our wildest expectations.

Although Help Scout was underfunded relative to the competition, relentless focus on three things enabled us to build a business that continues to thrive:

After fifteen years as CEO, I stepped aside at the end of 2025 to catch my breath and make room for the work I do today, working with mission-driven founders and CEOs.

As a CEO, two things contributed to my personal growth more than anything else: a coach and a peer group.

My coach helped me see around corners and challenged me to grow every day as a leader. She enabled me to keep up with the steep growth curve you need to be on to succeed as a CEO in the long term. My peer group was equally impactful. There’s nothing like having a group of people you trust, who do the same job, are going through a lot of the same challenges, and will have your back no matter what.

That, in a nutshell, is why I do this work. I love supporting founders on their journey to become successful CEOs. In my experience, playbooks don’t get you very far. It’s much more impactful to leverage peers, advisors, and mentors to accelerate your personal growth. If that’s something you want more of as a CEO, I’d love to discuss working together.

Thanks for stopping by!
